First day men from Nandgaon come to Barsana. In their tradition, girls of Barsana beat the men of Nandgaon with a stick. Men are not allowed to strike the women back, all they can do is to save them or through color on them.

The celebration is performed with the music and dance.  In the bonfire, a large puppet of demon Holika is burned in the bonfire. It gives the significance of truth over evil.
